Lifeline Measurement Form

Text Box: For safety as well as cosmetic reasons life lines need to be replaced at regular intervals depending upon use, UV exposure and other environmental factors. Please use the diagram and table below as a guide to measuring your own lifelines.

The diagram below represents a typical lifeline arrangement which has upper and lower midships gates. If necessary, please contact American Rigging Supply, Inc. for more detailed forms on Lifelines with aft or no gates.

Be sure to measure both sides of your boat as measurements often do not match from side to side. If your boat does not have gates, please measure from the eye of ‘B’ to the eye of ‘D’. Please also indicate whether you prefer vinyl coated 7x7 or uncoated 1x19 lifelines. We use fittings from two of the leading manufacturers, Johnson Marine and Hayn Marine.

Although there are many variances when ordering, please keep in mind these more commonly used terminals pictured above such as Toggle Jaws, Single and Double gate Eyes, Tubular and Cast Over the Center Pelican Hooks, Open and Closed Body Turnbuckles.

When ordering and installing your new lifelines from American Rigging Supply, Inc. , please consider Lifeline Netting as an added safety feature. Lifeline netting helps keep small children and family pets safe. Please contact us with any questions.

B= Distance from the bearing surface of the stern eye to the inside bearing surface of the aft gate stanchion.

C= Distance between inside bearing surfaces of the stanchion gates.

D= Distance from the inside bearing surface of the forward gate stanchion to the bearing surface of the bow eye.

Mark N/A for any measurements that don’t apply or if there are any special considerations.
